a Flamingo
It is assumed that you have a good working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.
This tutorial uses vector shapes.
I made this in PSP XI, but it can be done in all other versions too.

download a trial
version.....and I'm sure you will have lots of fun.
Preset Shapes

Don't forget to save as you go along.

Bottom legs, same as above, only line width set to 8. Now select all the leg layers by holding the shift button down, rightclick and select group from the menu. Don't forget to save! |

Add a new Vector Layer Make the knees, presetshape set to rectangle, color set to #ad5e69, shape as shown, and do the same for the other leg. |

Add a new Vector Layer Now for the eye. "NOTE" This is how I did mine, but you also can do this later, using only the paintbrush. Do as you like. Preset shape set to ellipse, foreground null, background color #e3ca85. This is all the vector stuff.....hope it wasn't that bad....LOLOL!!! You can convert each layer to raster layer, or group all layers and save as preset shape. |

Now for the shading Lock transparency on the body layer, I did my shading on the same layer. There are none the same....so I am giving a little of how I did mine as a guide, you can use the colors I gave or any you want. Brush size from 2 to 6, smudge size from 8 to 15. Brush settings. Smudge settings. Add some lines as shown, keep adding, also in different colors. Smudge to blend the colors. |

This is how mine looks like. |

Shade the neck with the darker redbrown
#c64434 also a bit under the eye. When done, add noise, Gaussian 4 and monochrome checked. |

Beak Convert the beak layer and lock transparency. Shade with a larger paintbrush size, and use the light purple colors, I also added a little white, smudge to blend the colors. When I was done I used the pentool again, set to draw lines and polylines line width 1 I did draw 2 lines, 1 lightgrey and a dark grey, and placed them next to eachother. |
![]() |
Legs Convert the legs layer, having all on 1 layer, otherwise merge the leg layers first. Now....the legs can be done in many ways...just by shading a bit or using bevel like I did, and these are the settings I used. |
![]() |
Knees LOLOL....not sure they are called knees....but I had to call them something. Convert the knees, having them also on 1 layer, lock transparency and shade them with a bit lighter and darker color. |
![]() |
Feet Convert the feet and having them on 1 layer, lock transparency, this is how my shading looks like. Smudge to blend a little. |
![]() |
Eye As I said before, the eye can be done as you like, but this is how mine looks like. You are all done now, merge layers. Did you save as you went along???!!! Hope so!!!! |
