Now for the tutorial....
This is what we will be making!
Lila Bloem

I did use the jpeg optimizer for faster loading, so the images do look a bit weird, sorry.

It is assumed that you have a good working knowledge of PSP.

  • PSP 8     download a free trial version.....and I'm sure you will enjoy.

Let's make the "Lila Bloem"......hope you have fun!
Open up a transparent image size around 500 x 500
16 million colours (24 bit).
Don't forget to save as you go along.

Add a new Vector Layer
Click on the Preset Shapes set to circle,
foreground set to null, background to #DCC6EC
Edit the nodes as shown. Save!
Right-click on the shape layer and choose,
create raster selection from the menu.
In the selections menu choose,
save to alpha channel.
Just click ok, because this is the only
selection we need to be saved.
Add a texture, and go to fine leather use settings as shown.
Select the flower and float.
Add a new Layer
now add a cutout with these settings
V+H 0, opacity 100, blur 40 and color #421d4d.
Merge layers visible and Save!
Add a new Layer and name it lines1.
Use the airbrush, color #620D62, size 4, hardness 50, step 25, density 100, opacity 50, draw some lines as shown.
Give the lines a Gaussian blur of 2 and save!
*note* after the blur, load the selection from alpha channel, now invert, and hit the delete key.
Add a new Layer name it shading1 and move it under the lines1 layer.
Use the airbrush color #8A2A83, settings as shown, and draw over the lines.
When done give it a Gaussian blur of 3.
Save!

This is what we have so far!
Add a new Layer name it shading2.
Use the airbrush same settings only size set at 50. This first color is the same as we used for the shading of the lines and the second color is #CEC2F0.
Just airbrush a bit with both colors and add a gaussian blur of 3 again. Save!
Add a new Layer this one above the lines1 layer and name it center.
With the airbrush and color #241623, size set at 10 H100 Den50 Opa100,
draw the center as shown and give it a gaussian blur of 3. Save!
Add a new Layer name it thinlines.
Use the airbrush same settings only size set at 2, draw lines as veins. When done add a gaussian blur of 2. Duplicate this layer and set the layer blend mode to burn, rotate free set at 35. Now set this layer to 50 and save!
Add a new Layer name it shading3.
Use the airbrush settings Size40 H20 D20 Op20 and same color, spray just a bit and add gaussian blur 1. Save!
Add a new Layer name it shading4.
Use the airbrush settings as above and color #5F2D74, spray just the lines with these settings, then add agaussian blur 1. Save!
Add a new Layer name it shading5.
Use the airbrush settings again the same as above and color #8B1778, spray just the lines, and add gaussian blur 4. Save!
