Now for the tutorial...this is what we
will be making! PSP
X The tools I used:
a Pinebranch
Many did ask me how I did my pinebranch,
I know there are many ways to do it,
and there are many tutorials on the net....all a bit different.
Anyway this is how I did mine.
It is assumed that you have a good working knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.
This tutorial uses vector shapes.
I made this in PSP X, but it can be done in all other versions too.

download a free trial
version.....and I'm sure you will have lots of fun.
Preset Shapes
Pen Tool
We will first make a single branch.
Open up a transparent image size around 300 x 400 16 million colours (24 bit).
I know it's a bit large, I need a lot of space...LOL, make it smaller if you like.
Don't forget to save as you go along.

| Add a new Vector Layer Click on the Preset Shapes set to ellipse, foreground set to null, background the first color. Draw the ellipse, and shape as shown. Draw the second one...with the second color....and make it a bit smaller than the first. Draw the third one....with the third color...and again make it smaller. Align them as shown. Now group them....DO NOT CONVERT!!

Draw a line Select the pentool choose lines and polylines, set the foreground to the forth color, background to null. The line width 5, and draw a line as shown. |

Adding the pineneedles Now we just add the pineneeldles to the line. Select the pineneedle group, rightclick and choose copy from the menu, then choose paste new vector selection. You can rotate and shape them as you like. When you are done adding the pineneedles, select all the grouped pineneedles and line, and group all the vector layers again. Rename the group. You can export the group as a shape....I think that is always handy...lolol. Don't forget to save! |

Making a full branch Now you can create a full branch the same way as we did with the single branch, copy the grouped layer and paste as new vector selection, rotate and shape as you like. *note*it does use a lot of memory....so it could be a bit slow when pasting. |

Creating a pine tree Do the same as with the pineneedles and branches, by copy and pasting the vector group. I started with the outside shape...and kept adding in the middle. |
