Now for the tutorial....
This is what we will be making!
I first need to say thank you to my friend Beckie who has just written her first tutorial as well.
She kept telling me to do it too, so it's because of her faith in me that I thought I would give it a try......thanks Beckie! This is my first time ever......even thinking about writing a tutorial....LOL, so I hope you will be patient with me, all comments are welcome.....because I know I need to learn too!
Anyway......how did I get this idea? While talking with Beckie....and just joking....I said to her......what do you want me to make??? a Windmill maybe? I am from Holland, so it kept going through my mind, that it may not be too original, but then I remembered that many Dutch people have old Wooden Shoes which they paint themselves and then put flowers in them....even hanging against their walls or in the garden somewhere.
You are considered lucky when you can buy those old ones....who had very large feet.....LOL
as you can put more flowers into them! This tutorial uses vector shapes. It isn't really difficult and you can save the
A few years ago my daughter went to a place called "de Zaanse Schans" and there you will find real old Dutch things like the Wooden Shoes, Windmills and much more, of course most tourists from all over the world go there to see how it used to be in the old days. Anyway she gave me a cute penholder she bought there....and it's a very tiny wooden shoe for on my desk. So just by thinking.....and looking around me....and seeing that very cute little wooden shoe in front of me......that's how the idea came along.
Wooden Shoe with Tulips as a preset shape as well as a tube.
It is assumed that you have a good working knowledge of PSP.
I did use jpeg optimizer for faster loading, so I'm sorry if the images look a bit weird.
What I used for my Wooden Shoe with Tulips.
PSP 7
download a free trial version.....and I'm sure you will have lots of fun.
Eye Candy 4000 .....it also can be done with the Free version Eye Candy 3.
my preset download and extract to your preset folder in PSP.
The tools I used:
Preset Shapes
Object Selector
Selection Tool
Retouch tool
Layer Visibility Toggle
Air Brush
Lasso tool
Dropper
Draw tool
Flood fill tool
Let's go and make the Wooden Shoe and Tulips!......hope you have fun!
Open up a transparent image size around 550 x 500 16 million colours (24 bit).
Don't forget to save as you go along.... (maybe a tip...when I grouped the decoration for example... then I gave it a name) ...but off course do as you like.
I did save it as a shape first....before promoting to layers...something I just have learned......with much thanks to
Barbara of BJWebArt and Mary Newton aka Lady Oz, for helping me out and teaching me all the things about saving shapes.
these are the colors I used, but feel free to use others if you like.
Click on the Preset Shapes and settings as shown, choose any color you like for the basic wooden shoe.
Draw a oval shape and edit until it looks something like this
Add a new Vector Layer
Now choose a different color for the inside of the wooden shoe,
use same shape and node edit until it has the shape as shown below.
I hope you did ....SAVE!
Add a new Vector Layer for the decoration of the Wooden Shoe.
I made all decoration, using the preset shape Heart and used the Draw tool set to Diamonds.
This is an example of how I did it,
but feel free to decorate as you like
I know most of you are very creative!
This is how my layers look now:
Add a new Vector Layer
We are now going to make the Tulips,
and starting with the stem and leaves.
Choose the green colour or any green colour you like
change the shape to rectangle and draw something same as shown below.
SAVE!
Add a new Vector Layer
We have the stems, so now we need the leaves.
I still used the same color green, but changed the shape to a circle.
Try to shape it, using the nodes as shown below:
It should look like something like this one below:
Then I copied and pasted as a vector selection 5 times,
then rotated them and placed it on the stems.
I used 2 leaves for each stem.
To copy the leaf....highlight it and right click with the mouse,
and you will see this menu:
click on copy, now right click again and choose paste New Vector Selection
When you're done, it should look like this.
SAVE!
Add a new Vector Layer
Now for the Tulip we choose a different color, and keep using the same shape.
Try to shape as shown by using the nodes.
This is the front of the Tulip.
Add a new Vector Layer
We also make a backside for the Tulip as shown below:
Same color and Preset shape.
There are 3 Tulips, so I copied and pasted the Tulips in
the same way as the leaves, also rotated and edited each part
until it was the way I liked them.
Now we are done with all the Vector Layers, and we do need a break....LOL
you should have something like this:
SAVE!
